Moving and Handling

  • Repetitive strain of physically assisting someone; stooping, bending and over reaching, especially when working at low heights can cause significant injury to a carer. Physically lifting a person should always be avoided regardless of weight, environment or preference.

  • Advice, reorganisation of the environment or assistive equipment can alleviate the physical demands of caring for someone. We work with both local authorities and private companies to provide necessary equipment, dependent upon your needs and preference.

Environmental Assessment

  • The lived environment creates many restrictions for independence, low furniture and fittings make sitting to standing difficult; deep bathtubs restrict independence with personal care.

  • We can assess you in your current, or a prospective home environment to determine suitability of equipment and/or adaptations to improve independence.

Personal Reports

  • Using your medical records, letters and information that evidences your difficulties alongside our assessment helps build a strong case when supporting information is required from a healthcare professional.

  • Personalised professional reports are created for the purpose of supplying supporting information required from a healthcare professionals to, but not limited to organisations such as the department of work and pensions, housing and charitable associations.

Functional Assessment

  • A functional assessment looks at your ability to manage essential basic activities of daily living such as getting in and out of the chair, on and off the toilet, up and down stairs, getting in and out of bed etc.

  • Watching how you move in your own environment is the best way for us to identify your strengths and find a solution to your difficulties, which is why we come to visit you.

Equipment & Adaptions

  • From a shoe horn to a bed that can transfer you into a sitting or standing position; equipment can provide life changing independence. Providing basic equipment attached to your usual furniture and fittings can huge differences to levels of independence and dignity.

  • Replacing a bath with a level access shower, installing a stair lift or through-floor lift can give you easy access to facilities that have become difficult or impossible to use. Equipment and adaptations in addition to increasing independence often reduce the costs of formal care packages, or significantly reduce carer strain.

Supported Visits

  • When loved ones visit numerous medical and hospital appointments it is difficult to always be available to attend, meaning you are unable to ask important questions, or receive a clear interpretation of the discussions and decisions from the appointment.

  • We can attend the appointment, ask your questions and update you on discussions and treatment plans with the consent of the supported person.
